Brownfields

Abandoned, under-used, or blighted properties are a common occurrence across urban and rural landscapes. The City of Springfield is no exception. A deserted factory, a vacated house, an industrial area where petroleum products were used, are all examples of real estate potentially designated as brownfields.
However, most brownfields possess excellent business locations, existing infrastructure, and access to transportation – which are vital to development and capital enterprise. Investing in designated brownfields can be beneficial to our city’s economic vitality and quality of life.
The solution isn’t avoiding the problem, hoping it will go away. These “diamonds in the rough” are opportunities waiting to be discovered!
